Looking into trees

colouroutsidetheli

I absolutely love standing next to a tree trunk, and looking up into the heart of the tree where the boughs meet the sky. It's lovely to lose yourself in a tree and wonder about all the lives that have been lived in its shadow. I used to live near a great oak tree that my son and I measured when he was little. I researched it and found it on old maps of Grimsby from 200 years ago. Now stranded on a mini roundabout it still forms the backdrop to the lives of people in that area. Bare winter branches now, but soon sprouting with green, fresh leaves in spring. Then in autumn the leaves crinkle and brown, and the whole cycle starts again. I now live nextdoor to a beautiful cherry tree and its life cycle forms the backdrop to my year x
